EXCLUSIVE: Did Arjun Kapoor fly down to Dubai to celebrate Malaika Arora’s birthday?
The latest buzz is that Malaika Arora celebrated her birthday with close friend Arjun Kapoor in Dubai.
Malaika Arora celebrated her 44th birthday (October 23) at the Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel in Dubai with her gal pals Aditi Govitrikar, Delnaz Daruwala and Vahbiz Mehta but buzz is that she also celebrated it with her close friend Arjun Kapoor.
Says a source, “There has been speculation of Arjun and Malaika calling it quits, but the two have always maintained a discreet silence on their friendship – they have chosen not to discuss about a breakup too if any. This Diwali they made sure that they were not spotted at any party together to avoid unnecessary gossip but that was it. As they say, actions prove louder than words and Arjun was spotted in Dubai on Monday. Apparently he flew in that day on some work (the actor is keen to invest in property there), landed up at her hotel after completing his work and celebrated her birthday together with her friends. Arjun's visit was a surprise for Malaika and Arjun had even bought her favorite cake. The next day he was back in Mumbai.”
The source adds, “It’s tiring for Arjun and Malaika to keep answering questions about their friendship to the media. While both choose not to talk about it, it’s an extremely special friendship between the two and which both cherish. Arjun being a complete romantic and very clear-minded about what is the right thing to do, could not in any way have celebrated Malaika’s birthday so even though he’s been in the middle of prepping for Dibakar Banerjee’s next film he took out a day just to celebrate it with her and make the day more special.”
Earlier this year, at a promotional event, with Susanne Khan and Bipasha Basu, when asked about her and Arjun, Malaika had said, “Seriously? Talk about us. We are three independently wonderful and amazing women, talk about that. Why don’t you talk about the fact when we meet, what all happens? Everybody is laughing, happy and talking about us. Talk about that. I think that’s more interesting, right? Gossip karne ki kya zarurat hai (what is the need to gossip).”
A couple of days before he flew off to Dubai, Arjun had posted on his Instagram a deeply introspective post which said, “In life we always wonder what our next move should be or what we could have done or should we do or not do...over the last few years I have also spent a lot of time being this person...next is not always important the here and now is important & well the past is the past...as I write this I know I will end up over thinking about what’s yet to happen has happened or about taking a decision and maybe have another night laid up in bed till 4am...but as I grow older I realise it’s a habit it needs to be broken cause it’s consuming and it takes the fun out of living...To all my fellow over thinkers/procrastinators we should live in the moment more often as the good old ‘Bollywood saying’ goes har pal yahan jee bhar jiyo jo hai samaa kal ho na ho!”
Maybe this was a decision that Arjun had to make – to go or not? Being a public figure always runs the risk of being spotted in public and sure enough, as he returned from Dubai today evening he was snapped by the paps. But sometimes you need to run a risk too for that special friend who means much more to you than a lot of people and we are guessing he did just that!
