EXCLUSIVE: Did you know Abhishek Bachchan was offered the negative role in Ranveer Singh's Simmba?
Before Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan was offered the negative role in Rohit Shetty's directorial Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. Simmba is slated to release on December 28, 2018.
After a long sabbatical, Abhishek Bachchan made his presence felt strongly as Robbie in Anurag Kashyap's romantic drama, Manmarziyaan, alongside Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. AB Jr was terribly missed in the Bollywood scene and now the actor is back with a bang. Currently, the star is shooting for Anurag Basu's next, which is tentatively a sequel to Life In A... Metro (2006) in Hooghly. Besides Anurag's movie, Abhishek will also be reuniting with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Kashyap's Gulab Jamun.
When it comes to movies offered to Abhishek in the recent past, Pinkvilla has EXCLUSIVELY come to know about a film rejected by Abhishek that will shock you! Abhishek was offered to play the antagonist in Rohit Shetty's Simmba, which is loosely inspired by the Telegu film, Temper (2015). Starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, this Shetty directorial eventually landed in the hands of Sonu Sood. Interestingly, R Madhavan was also offered Sonu's role but the actor had to decline due to a severe injury.
But, that's not all! According to our source from down South, before Simmba, when Temper director Puri Jagannadh had originally planned the Hindi remake for his film, he had Abhishek Bachchan as his lead character in mind.
However, AB Jr turned this role down as well and we wonder why!
Meanwhile, Ranveer recently wrapped shooting for the film which will see the actor play the role of a cop for the first time. Ranveer has now jet-setted to Lake Como, Italy, as he is all set to tie the knot with the love of his life, Deepika Padukone.
Simmba is slated to release on December 28, 2018.
