EXCLUSIVE: Dil Raju plans a Pan South Indian Film with Thalapathy Vijay; Will it be #Thalapathy67?
Before Dil Raju, Thalapathy Vijay is expected to have two releases during Pongal and Diwali 2022 weekend with Sun Pictures and Lalit Kumar respectively.
Pinkvilla was the first to reveal that that Thalapathy Vijay will play the character of a con agent in his next, to be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The team has been on a recce in Russia as major chunk of action of the story unfolds in Europe and the idea is to take Thalapathy 65 on the floors in the month of May, to get it ready for a Pongal 2021 opening. Right after wrapping up the Nelson directorial, Vijay reunites with his Master producer, Lalit Kumar (7 Screen Studio), for another action-packed film. Contrary to the speculations, we hear, it wouldn’t be directed by Master fame, Lokesh Kanagraj and the makers are yet to lock the director of the film.
“Lalit Kumar has signed Vijay for #Thalapathy66 and even given him an advance amount of Rs 5 crore. The script and other modalities are being worked upon and the film will be targeting a Diwali 2022 opening,” revealed a source close to the development. We previously reported that Vijay is reuniting with Master producer, XB Creators, but that was a confusion and he is infact reuniting with the second producer of the action thriller, 7 Screen Studio (we have updated it in the earlier article too). There have been reports about Vijay doing a film for Thenandal Film with Lokesh Kanagraj, however, our source assures that even that’s a rumour. “Thalapathy 66 is confirmed with Lalit Kumar,” the source confirmed.

Dil Raju has a mega Pan South Indian film for Vijay and he is planning to rope in actors from Tamil, Telugu and even Malayalam industry for this prestigious project. He may dub it in Hindi too, but at the moment, they are internally terming it the biggest Pan South Indian project till date. If all go as planned, this would be #Thalapathy67 and will release in 2023. Other details have been kept under wraps for now, and Raju is expected to have multiple meetings with Vijay through this year, before finalizing on the modalities of the film. “If all fall in place, it will go on the floors towards middle of 2022,” the source signed off.
