Fatima Sana Shaikh might have had a fall with Thugs of Hindostan but the Dangal girl is high spirited and is enjoying each phase of her movie journey. After finishing a schedule for Anurag Basu's next, the actress in a candid chat with PINKVILLA opened up about working with Rajkummar Rao, her Me Too statement, if she is conscious of people judging her and more. Not just that, the actress took up the question on Thugs' failure head on and her bucket list, of course!

Excerpts from the Interview:

After Thugs' failure and so much chatter around the downfall, what would you say your mindset is like?

I am actually doing quite well, mentally. I started my year with Basu's film. I got involved in the process and I am really enjoying working with Rajkummar and Basu. It looked like a party every day. We used to go to sets every day, dance and act. There was no need for prepping up for the movie, so it was fun. We discovered a lot of things on the sets itself.

You are collaborating with Rajkummar Rao for the movie who has had quite an exciting career graph. Your thoughts on working with him?

The quality of all successful actors is the same that they are passionate about their work and they are disciplined. This is what I saw in AK, Bachchan Sir and this is what I see in Rajkummar as well. The behavioural pattern is the same and it is what sets them apart, it is their dedication. Raj has been at it for so many years and it is now that he has got such appreciation, and even then, he gave his 100% whether 100 people saw it or 10. I am extremely fond of Raj because he is very talented and I have met him before Stree and even before Dangal and he is the same guy, hasn't changed a bit. I am very fortunate to get an opportunity to work with such good people.

It is said that you are as good as your last film. Did Thugs' failure make you more cynical about picking up work?

I think a lot of people are asking me this that 'are you being more careful about the project you choose' I think that is because of Thugs not doing well. I don't think doing Thugs was a bad choice for me and I think that is why I don't feel bad or have second thoughts about saying yes to a movie if I like it. I am someone who goes by instinct. Even if it is wrong I will realise it later on. But at least I will learn, once the product is out. But if I am getting into a project, the process needs to be exciting for me, the moment I start questioning my own gut instinct or do things which other people want me to do, I won't be able to deliver it.

Working with Basu is said to be an experience in itself, just like Bhansali. Your comments?

He is a genius. He is constantly thinking. If he has an idea, he will keep working on it and keep making it better till the very end. Only he knows what he wants. There is so much of love for his work, and his energy that I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Are you critical about your work?

I am never happy with my work. I keep judging my work. I question it a lot. Maybe once I do a lot of work, this phase will go.

Whom do you want to work next with?

There is a huge bucket list including Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer, Ranbir, Varun. I really like these guys a lot... Ranveer is doing such great work. I enjoyed Gully Boy so much. He plays all the characters so seamlessly. I absolutely love the kind of world Bhansali creates. The typical Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam type love and tragic love story. I absolutely love it.

You recently opened up on sexual harassment, which you perhaps faced during early age. What can you tell us about it?

For some reason, people thought that it is something I am dealing with right now. It seems present but in actuality, it happened much before. it happened much before Dangal.

But you mentioned that people shouldn't judge you for not sharing your story. Do you fear being judged?

No, it is not that. It is the kind of person that I am. My personal life is personal. I might talk a lot and be friendly, but there are certain parts you want to keep it private. About the judge part, there are people who will judge for speaking and even judge you for not speaking, will judge you for wearing saree and will judge you for wearing shorts. So judgmental people are there. So, I mean it is something I just said. It is something I want to keep to myself.
