EXCLUSIVE: Gold director Reema Kagti REVEALS why she cast Mouni Roy alongside Akshay Kumar
Mouni Roy will be making her Bollywood debut with Gold, which is being directed by Reema Kagti. Reema has previously directed Talaash and Honeymoon Travels Ltd.
Gold starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh among others is one of the most anticipated movies this year. Directed by Reema Kagti, the movie has been produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar among others. Gold releases this Independence Day i.e August 15, 2018.
Gold marks the debut of Television's Naagin Mouni Roy into the movies. The actor left us impressed in the little glimpse we got of her in the 2 minutes 8 seconds trailer which was unveiled today.
In an EXCLUSIVE interview, Reema Kagti revealed the reason why she cast Mouni Roy in the movie. She said, "My casting director put several actresses on tape and when I saw Mouni's first test, I was convinced. She had done such a good job that I was convinced she is the one we were looking for."
Speaking about Mouni's role, Reema added, "She is playing Tapan Das's wife, she has got a really fun part in the film."
Apart from Gold, Mouni has Brahmastra and RAW in the pipeline. While in Brahmastra, she will be sharing screen space with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, in RAW, she is paired opposite John Abraham. In Brahmastra, Mouni reportedly will be seen playing a grey character. Brahmastra will be directed by Ayan Mukherji and is the first part of the trilogy being produced under the Dharma banner.
Brahmastra is slated for an August 2019 release, on the other hand, RAW will be releasing next year sometime.
