EXCLUSIVE: Jacqueline Fernandez on nepotism - Star kids come with a lot of baggage, I won't say it is easy for them
Jacqueline Fernandez gets candid about her views on nepotism.
The talk of the town in 2K17 was undoubtedly that of NEPOTISM. What started as a statement made by Kangana Ranaut to Karan Johar (Flagbearer of Nepotism) has now become a rage with every actor being asked about the 'N' word.
While promoting their upcoming movie, A Gentleman, we asked Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez if Nepotism ever stood as a barrier for them. As Sidharth gave his views on how star kids are more aware of everything in Bollywood as they come from a filmy background, Jacqueline mirrored his stance and said, "Yes, that's true. Having worked with both sides - Varun and Sid as well, having worked with both, you see the challenges that they go through as well."
Sidharth then interrupted Jacqueline and quipped, "Like what!? (laughs)"
The actress continued, "What are you saying!? (laughs) C'mon they also come with a lot of baggage. I won't say it is easy for them also to live with the fact that they do come from a filmy background. It definitely works to your advantage, you can take it to work to your advantage. But at the same time, the public keeps throwing it back at you. So, you always have to keep proving yourself because they expect that from you and it becomes questionable about the work that you get based on your merit and your talent as opposed to you just being from the industry. That's not something that is easy to live with and I see that struggle happening. Everyone has their own struggles. We have our struggles and they have theirs. At the end of the day what really works is what the audience is expecting and they like you irrespective of your background."
What is your take on Jacqueline's views on Nepotism!? Let us know in the comments below.
Directed by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, A Gentleman is slated to release on August 25, 2017.
