With just 8 days left for the release of Roohi, the makers unveiled their dance number, Nadiyon Par (Let The Music Play). It also happens to the be first real dance number for Janhvi Kapoor, who made her acting debut with Dhadak and followed it up with Gunjan Saxena. Pinkvilla got a chance to speak to the actress at a special song preview earlier this week, and when quizzed about the process of shooting for her first dance number, the actress said, “It all happened at a very short notice. We were always supposed to shoot for a promotional number, but it was another song.”

She goes ahead to revealed that producer Dinesh Vijan called her to inform about the song when she was shooting for a film in Patiala. “Dinoo had this song and wanted it to be filmed on me. We had to shoot for the song in just a night and I was very excited. There was little time to prep for it, and Dinoo sir had given all the responsibilities on my shoulder. He said, ‘you are the producer of this song, take care of it’, so I was like fine,” she added.

With effortless moves in the dance number, one wonders about the sort of training Janhvi has in various forms of dance. She humbly avers, “I am not really a trained dancer, may be like whenever I got break from work, I used to do Kathak. I have done a couple of sessions in Belly Dancing too. And that’s all.” It’s the first major Hindi film to release in the theatre in the midst of this pandemic on March 11, which is also a holiday in the interiors on account of Mahashivratri. Dinesh Vijan, with his studio partner, Jio, are planning to release it in around 1500 screens across India.

Roohi is a part of the horror universe of Dinesh Vijan, that started with Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree. It will soon expand further with the Varun Dhawan – Kriti Sanon fronted monster comedy, Bhediya. Prod Janhvi on the horror universe and she signs off, “It’s like The Conjuring, which has two three films in the same universe. They don’t have anything to do with each other, but they all are interrelated in the same universe. It’s a cool concept. I am a big fan of Stree, but this is a completely different movie, part of the same world. I hope people see it for itself as an individual film.”

Roohi also features Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in key roles.
