John Abraham will next be seen in Pagalpanti which stars him alongside Ileana Dcruz, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda among others. The movie directed by Anees Bazmee and will release next week. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, John opened up on many things including getting stereotyped for doing a particular kind of movie. When asked if it bothers him that Akshay Kumar and he gets meme-d for doing patriotic films, John laughed it off saying that it is because they love their country and don’t mind getting stereotyped.
“A lot of people say Ayushmann makes the best choices in films. Fantastic choices, like Bala, Dream Girl and others. But do you also know that the different kind of films only go to Ayushmann today? So what I am saying is the patriotic film might just come to a Akshay or me, sometimes you don’t go to a film, it just comes to you. Akshay and me have had a laugh about this also. It doesn't affect us. I think it is great especially at the time when the feeling of being Indian is the highest,” he said. He also spoke about how he cannot deal with adult humour and if anything bothers him in a film, he just takes a stand for it.
“In Pagalpanti, it is a universal movie. You can target anyone, from the age of 5 to 80-90, there is nothing offensive in it. There is no bloodshed, the villains are cute, everything is very good and positive about the film. Subconsciously I don't. I can't do adult humour, so anything if it katkos (bothers) me in a line and I feel it might be offensive as far as humour goes, I probably wouldn't say I,” he added. Meanwhile, John also spoke about how Pagalpanti is a movie which will be loved and enjoyed by all class of people. He reiterated an instance where his friends from South Mumbai would call him saying they loved Welcome Back.
