EXCLUSIVE: Kangana Ranaut VS Sonu Sood: Did Sood misuse his friendship with the director of Manikarnika?
The Manikarnika controversy turns murkier by the day. Sources close to Kangana Ranaut and Sonu Sood have different stories to tell. Read on.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is releasing in 2019 in the month of January but the controversies surrounding it have already started. The movie earlier made headlines for the intermittent delays and then over the director credit and now it is Sonu Sood's sudden exit from the movie which has made the news. Sonu's exit has unleashed a sly war of words between the two talented actors, Kangana Ranaut and Sood himself. After Sood hit back at Ranaut questioning her competency as a director, indirectly, sources close to Kangana said that Sonu "misused his friendship" with director Krish to get the Kushti scenes included in the script. "Those Kushti sequences cost the studio a bomb," the source stressed.
On the other hand, a source close to Sonu said, "Sonu is a director's actor and whatever he has shot for Manikarnika is a part of the film and being the professional that he is, he has always followed his director's vision. Actors do not need to influence anyone but just need to follow their directors. No one loves the script more than the director. He believes a filmmaker knows everything about his film but unfortunately, in this case, an aspiring director is calling the shots."
"If Sonu really needed to convince Krish, he would have convinced him to play Jhansi Ki Rani or turn around the whole story on his character Sadashiv Rao," the source laughed off and added, "Jokes aside, a director is the captain of the ship and he knows what he is doing. Sonu doesn't belong to the school of actors who creates a situation in which a director has to exit his own film."
Well, we now would really want to hear what Krish has to say about this. In the meantime, a source also exclusively released two pictures from the sets wherein Sonu is seen in his Sadashiv Rao avatar. The source mentioned that Sonu shot for these scenes with gelled hair and hence it has cost the production a lot to do everything again because "Sonu wants to show muscles and this hairstyle." "Is this 19th century?" the source asked and added that, "90 % of Sonu's portions have to be reshot. There was this one scene which could have been used but everyone felt his hair was sticking out ...so they decided to reshoot everything." However, a source close to Sonu yesterday had revealed, "Talking about sporting a spiked hairstyle, Sonu’s character wears a turban in the film and not wearing a turban in the fight scene is no big deal. It’s quite amusing to see Jhansi’s character having properly rolled blow-dried hair for a period film." Have a look at the pictures below:
Further, the source close to Kangana said that Sonu wouldn't listen to the veteran designers. We have left a text to director of Manikarnika, Krish, for clarification and are currently awaiting his response.
Meanwhile, Sonu in his fresh statement has said that gender for him has never been an issue but it is the competency of the director which matters. Well, we wonder where is an end to this blame game!
