Kabir Khan in an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla revealed how Ranveer Singh is prepping up hard for his role as Kapil Dev for film 83.
The whole country is waiting for the much awaited biopic based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup. India lifted the trophy under Kapil Dev’s leadership and well, the country will re-live the moments on the big screen. Being directed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan, 83’ will see Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, Pankaj Tripathi will play Man Singh, Tahir Bhasin will play Sunil Gavaskar, and Saqib Saleem will play the role of Mohinder “Jimmy” Amarnath from 83 World Cup Cricket team. While the makers of the film are yet to announce full cast of 83’, Simmba star Ranveer Singh is leaving no stone unturned to step into the shoes of Kapil Dev.
For 83, Ranveer and other actors are being trained by Balvinder Singh Sandhu, the former Indian Cricketer. Revealing about how Ranveer is prepping up hard for the role, Kabir Khan in an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla revealed, “Ranveer is working very hard and as you know, he works really hard to become the character he is playing. Kapil Dev is by far probably the most iconic character he will portray, so he is working very hard on it.”
Kabir Khan also shared how challenging and thrilling experience it is going to be for him, star cast and audience. The Phantom director says, “It’s a challenge and it’s a thrill, you know what, it’s an amazing story just like Roar Of The Lion and the thrill was to bring to live 83 world cup history. You have to be authentic, genuine, and that is amazing about both the stories. The fact is so exciting, the true story is so exciting that you can’t over dramatised and can add anything from our side as it is inherently dramatic. “
