EXCLUSIVE: Karishma Tanna on Mujhe Chaand Pe Le Chalo- Rajkumar Hirani told me I am his perfect Pinky
Karishma Tanna, who appeared in the blockbuster Sanju, spoke about her experience shooting for the movie, the song featuring her and the best compliment that she has received so far.
Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt, is on a record-breaking spree. The movie helmed by Rajkumar Hirani also stars television hottie Karishma Tanna in a small yet significant role. For those who have already seen the movie will agree that Karishma's seamless transformation from a quintessential sanskari girl to that of a sizzling enchantress has left them captivated.
Today, a special song featuring Ranbir and Karishma was released. The song by AR Rahman is suggestively sultry and is such a tease. We exclusively got in touch with Karishma to ask her experience shooting for the song, if she had any apprehensions on people's reaction to her bold avatar on-screen, and working with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
Here's an excerpt from our conversation:
What was the brief given to you for your role in Sanju?
The brief that was given was that it is a very funny, situational scene where you have got to be a little awkward, and then there is this huge transformation. To be a part of a Raju sir's camp is in itself a big thing and he had very clearly told me that this is a cameo, it is a guest appearance role and that was it. I was fine because I liked the role and I knew it won't go unnoticed.
Did you feel apprehensive given that you had to exhibit a relatively bold avatar on the celluloid and how will people react to it?
No, not at all. I am working in Raju Sir's camp, so doing any role, one never feels apprehensive as he shoots very aesthetically. I don't think, it was like she is coming for 2 minutes and doing something bold. In the start, they show that she is a Guju girl who wears the dress for her boyfriend, who eventually dozed off. In real life, it must be Sanjay Dutt for a girl, I was just playing a character, after all.
How has the response been so far?
It is amazing. The response has been so good. People are calling me Pinky, Pinky (her character's name) everywhere. As I said, the role has not gone unnoticed and that doesn't mean that I will do guest appearances in the future as well. It was Raju Sir, hence, I have done this.
The best compliment that you received?
Raju Sir had told me that you are my perfect Pinky, so I guess that touched my heart!
How was it sharing screen space with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, who have been winning most of the accolades?
That's one of the reason. I know that they both are brilliant actors and with them, you get to learn a lot. So, yes, sharing screen space with them and being directed by Raju Sir, the whole set up was amazing.
Sanju also stars Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. The movie is inching closer to enter the Rs 300 crore club.
