EXCLUSIVE - Katrina Kaif has been approached to star opposite Akshay Kumar in Karan Johar's Kesari
Akshay Kumar to play the lead in Karan Johar's Kesari based on the Battle of Saragarhi.
Recently there was news that Parineeti Chopra has been signed to play Akshay Kumar’s (Havildar Ishar Singh) wife in Anurag Singh’s film Kesari, based on the Battle of Saragarhi and produced by Karan Johar. The shooting of the period war drama is said to start in January 2018. Now we have heard that Katrina Kaif too has been approached for the same role. Interestingly, when Salman Khan was producing the film, the buzz was that Katrina Kaif was eager to be a part of his and Karan Johar’s next production venture. Apparently, both Salman and Anurag were keen that Katrina be a part of the film and everyone knows that KJo and the actress are very close.
Says a trade source, “Though media has written about Parineeti Chopra being in Kesari, there is strong speculation that it may not happen as her dates are clashing with that of Vipul Shah’s Namaste Canada in January next year. Katrina has also been approached by Karan Johar to play Akshay’s wife. Akshay has always approached Katrina for most of his films including Singh Is Bling and Toilet… Ek Prem Katha but the actress has turned them down for her own reasons. But she seems to be considering Kesari as now her good friend KJo has offered it to her. Katrina and Akshay also have always made a striking pair on screen. But for Katrina, the main issue is dates as she has been approached for Shree Narayan Singh’s Roshni opposite Shahid Kapoor. That film too goes on the floor from January next year so Katrina is in a dilemma.”
It has been noticed in recent times that Akshay and Katrina have been bonding a lot together. The duo along with Aaditya Thackeray flagged off the 9th Akshay Kumar Kudo Tournament on Saturday where the duo danced together after years. Post that, a usually reserved Katrina was lavish in her praise for the actor, when she took to Instagram to share a picture of hers with Akshay and wrote, “Akshay... You were right. You take better pics than me... Finally a picture together after a longgggggg time... Love you Akshay Kumar."
If it happens, then we may get to see Akshay and Katrina together on screen after a gap of almost seven years. They were last seen together in Tees Maar Khan. The duo’s equation and onscreen chemistry are loved by all and they have given some big hits like Singh Is Kinng and Namastey London.
Things are not smooth for Parineeti either. The actress was to begin shooting for Dibakar Banerjee’s thriller, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, opposite Arjun Kapoor in Lucknow from October, but the shoot has got postponed to November now. If she shoots for Namastey Canada from January 2018 and Kesari too starts from then, then her dates are clashing too.
