EXCLUSIVE: Kriti Sanon in talks to team up with Kartik Aaryan on Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo remake
Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon last worked together in the 2019 hit film, Luka Chuppi.
Kriti Sanon is currently in Arunachal Pradesh, shooting for the monster comedy, Bhediya, alongside Varun Dhawan. The month-long schedule ends by early April and then she moves onto Adipurush, wherein she essays the character of Sita. All through the summer, she will be canning her portions for this epic alongside Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan. And now, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that the actress is in advanced talks to play the female lead in the Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo remake, marking a reunion with Kartik Aaryan after Luka Chuppi.
“The Kriti-Kartik pairing won acclaim from all quarters and that’s the reason why the makers are keen to have them back together in this Rohit Dhawan directed film. Though the actress too is keen to come on board the film, she is currently working on her date diary as team Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is keen to take their adaptation on floors from June,” revealed a source close to the development, adding further that Kriti is expected to commence her work on Ganpath alongside Tiger Shroff in the same time frame. “If things don’t work out, it will be only due to the clash of dates, as barring that, everyone is on the same page with respect to the script, character, financials and all other factors. Kriti is trying to balance and come on board this film,” the source added.

Apart from Kriti, the makers are in talks with two other actresses at the moment and a closure to all conversations is expected within a month. “The film goes on floors in June, so the leading lady will be locked at the most by mid-April,” the source shared. Pooja Hegde was the female lead in the Allu Arjun original. The Hindi remake is produced by Ekta Kapoor, Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and S Radha Krishna, who produced the Telugu original. It’s currently work in progress on the script, with the team of writers giving finishing touches to the screenplay and dialogue draft. Ground work for pre-production is also underway.
Meanwhile, Kriti is also in advanced talks with Jackky and Vashu Bhagnani for the sequel of Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, which is slated to go on floors towards the year end. If things materialise, the film would mark a first time pairing for her with a relatively established name (more on this soon).
