Nana Patekar has finally shared a detailed response to CINTAA against Tanushree Dutta's allegations of sexual harassment on the sets of Horn Ok Pleaseee, in 2008. Read below and find the copy of the detailed response by the veteran actor.
Tanushree Dutta sparked a revolution and shifted the focus of the Me Too movement to India when she recalled an alleged sexual harassment incident by veteran actor Nana Patekar. On the sets of the film Horn Ok Pleaseee (2009), Tanushree was reportedly asked to perform a sleazy step with Nana, without her prior consent. On refusal, goons were sent after the actress and her parents while her car and vanity van was destroyed. Tanushree has recently taken legal action and filed a police complaint against Nana along with Ganesh Acharya, Rakesh Sarang and Sami Siddiqui, who were also present on the sets of the film, back in 2008.
CINTAA was one of the organisations that have looked into Tanushree's sexual harassment allegations against Nana. CINTAA then sent Patekar a notice seeking an explanation for his alleged behaviour and have also asked him to respond on the same. A while back, it was revealed that Nana finally sent our a detailed response to CINTAA. And, we have now procured the copy of Nana's response to CINTAA about Tanushree's allegations. In the response, Nana's lawyer stated that the actor has denied the baseless and unsubstantiated allegations levelled by Tanushree.
Wanting to place the record straight, the lawyer speaks about the mental harassment that Nana had to go through post the untrue revelations. The lawyer further spoke about his achievement in the film industry as well as his philanthropy. Talking about the alleged incident which took place on the sets of Horn Ok Pleaseee in 2008, the lawyer stressed that Nana has not, under any circumstances, misbehaved with Tanushree.
The lawyer also spoke about an FIR filed by Tanushree's father, back in 2008, post the alleged incident where the complaint was about the paticular dance sequence and not about Nana. As Nana is not a dancer himself, the lawyer pertains that it's not possible for him to direct any moves of his co-star. He is also not the director of the film.
Nana feels now "it would be extremely unfair to entertain any complaint after a period of 10 years and rule of prudence would require that no cognizance of such baseless and malafide allegations be taken." He also talks about how he has heard about the police complaint made by Tanushree from the media and hence, the CINTAA "should restrain itself from taking any other further steps as the matter is under investigation."
As of now, Nana is in the "process of adopting appropriate legal measures against Ms. Dutta for having defamed my client in the eyes of public at large," concluded Nana's lawyer.
