Priyanka Chopra is today a force to reckon with. The actress has not only ruled Bollywood but also has firmly set her foot into Hollywood making India proud. As our desi girl is all set to return to Hindi cinema after three years with an emotional and engaging story titled The Sky is Pink, she met Pinkvilla for an exclusive chat where she bared her heart out on being replaced and finding her foot despite all the hardships.
About being called ‘replaceable’ Priyanka revealed how she made sure to be so excellent at her job and bring about a course of change for the future generations. She said, “It is not just true to me but of the industry. And not just of the industry, it is the truth of how women are treated around the world. Girls are always devalued. That a girl needs to be four times special or has to prove her mettle four times more than a guy. That is just the norm the world has created in a patriarchal society. It will take our generation of girls to change that for the next generation.”
Priyanka went on to reveal how she dealt with the situation back then when she was replaced in a film, sometimes without any intimidation. “I have been replaced. Yes. Once, a co-actor told me, and once, I read it in the newspaper. I just chose not to be a victim of my circumstances. Of course, I went and cried to my father, why me? But then he told me what are you going to do about it? I just made sure to be excellent in my next film and learn the job well. Even if the film doesn’t do well, I want to make sure that what I do is excellent.”
