EXCLUSIVE: Rangeela trio AR Rahman, Mehboob & Ahmed Khan reunite for Sajid’s Tiger Shroff starrer Heropanti 2
The trio is reuniting for a film after 26 years. Besides Tiger Shroff, the film also features Tara Sutaria, and is expected to go on the floors soon
In February last year, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala announced Heropanti 2 with Tiger Shroff headlining the cast. “This one is so special to me. Blessed and grateful to be carrying forward another franchise with my mentor Sajid sir,” the actor had posted on social media. On Tiger Shroff’s birthday earlier this month, they had announced the film’s release date to be December 3, 2021. Now Pinkvilla has a new exciting update on this much awaited actioner. We have learnt that the makers have roped in Academy Award winning composer AR Rahman and lyricist Mehboob for the film.
Interestingly, Heropanti 2 director Ahmed Khan, Rahman and Mehboob had all worked on Ram Gopal Varma’s 1995 romcom, Rangeela, and are now reuniting for this film after 26 years. “Rahman will not only be composing the songs but will also create the background score for the entire movie. He is expected to compose 5 songs for the film,” informs a source close to the development. Sajid too has earlier worked with Rahman on his previous productions, Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha and Highway.

Interestingly, Rahman had bagged a Filmfare Award for Rangeela, while Ahmed Khan had won the trophy for Best Choreography. Mehboob too had reportedly won the Filmfare RD Burman Award for penning the lyrics. Heropanti 2 is expected to go on the floors soon, and reportedly work on the pre-production is going on in full swing. Besides Tiger, the film also features Tara Sutaria in the lead role. Meanwhile, Shroff will also be seen in Ganapath and Rambo.
