EXCLUSIVE: Ranveer Singh’s ‘83 gets its Srikkanth; it’s CONFIRMED, Tamil actor Jiiva to play the cricketer
The makers of Ranveer Singh starrer '83 have roped in Tamil actor Jiiva to play the role of legendary cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth in the film.
Ranveer Singh starrer '83 is all set to have an amazing star cast of talented actors being roped in to play the legendary cricketers who led Team India to win their first World Cup in the year 1983. A few days back, the makers revealed that Punjabi actor and singer Ammy Virk has been finalised to play the role of Balwinder Singh Sandhu in the much-awaited film.
Earlier, there were several reports making the rounds about Tamil actor Jiiva has been roped in to play the role of Krishnamachari Srikkanth. Now, producer of '83 Madhu Mantena EXCLUSIVELY confirmed the report to Pinkvilla. He stated, "I have been a huge fan of Jiiva since the time I saw one of my favourite films with him called KO. I have always wanted to remake it here in Hindi. It’s awesome that finally, I am getting a chance to work with him. I can’t think of anyone better to be able to do justice in playing Srikkanth on the big screen."

With this film, Jiiva will be making his Bollywood debut. Earlier, while talking to Deccan Chronicle, Jiiva had shared his excitement of being a part of '83. He said, "I am avid cricket buff. I have played several local matches and even been in winning teams. When I got the opportunity to play ace cricketer Srikkanth and that too in my debut Hindi film, I was thrilled. I consider this as a big honour. I am looking forward to the day when I stand in front of the camera for 83."
