EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif begin Tiger 3 in Mumbai; Overseas schedule from June in Europe
Tiger and Zoya are back, as #Tiger3 goes on the floors from March at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. Here's all you need to know about the shooting plans of this action packed spy franchise.
In 2012, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif teamed up on the Kabir Khan directed espionage thriller, Ek Tha Tiger, featuring the two as RAW and ISI agents respectively. Five years later came Tiger Zinda Hai, with Ali Abbas Zafar as the director, and the film like the prequel, smashed all the records at the box-office. And now, come 2022, Tiger and Zoya are set to be back in action again as Tiger 3 is all set to go on the floors in March 2021 at YRF studios in Mumbai. This third part will be directed by Maneesh Sharma.
“The first schedule begins in March at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. The team, including Salman and Katrina, will be shoot for almost a month within the studio. In April, it would be a break for them, as Salman will jump into the promotions of his Eid 2021 release, Radhe, whereas Katrina will commence shooting for a new film in the meantime,” revealed a source .
Following the Mumbai schedule, team Tiger flies out of country for the international leg of the film from June. “The core premise of Tiger 3 is set in Europe and the team will be shooting extensively at multiple countries across Europe (more on the exact locations of shoot soon). It’s going to be a 45-to-50-day schedule, with them jumping from one location to the other. Europe is down with Covid at this point of time, however, the team is optimistic on the scenario to get much better from the month of June. The schedule has been planned keeping all the factors and uncertainty in mind,” the source added.

The overseas schedule will be followed by another stint in Mumbai and the shoot is expected to be wrapped up by the month of September. “The initial plan was to bring the film during the month of December 2021, however, given the packed release calendar, it’s likely to now move to the Eid 2022 weekend.” Maneesh Sharma and his team have already completed the recce of European nations, and will revisit the country to analyse the on-ground scenario during the gap between first and second schedule. They have also kept some alternate locations in mind, in-case, Europe continues to be badly hit by Covid. There is a possibility of a brief schedule in Istanbul too, but major chunk of the story unfolds only in Europe.
Talking of action, Tiger 3 is being planned as the biggest action film of Bollywood, with an estimated budget of Rs 350 crore. The action will be shot at real locations abroad, and the team is committed to take it a notch above not just the Tiger franchise but also two other action spectacles from YRF – War and Pathan. Salman will sport not one, but two looks in this third instalment of the franchise – which includes the clean-shaven look from Ek Tha Tiger and the rugged look from Tiger Zinda. Insiders reveal that the scale and action of Tiger 3 stems for the premise, which takes the character through multiple locations across the globe. It's unlike anything that the audience have seen in part one and two of Tiger series, with the story telling making a swift shift in the space of Bond and Mission Impossible franchise. Aditya Chopra himself has been invested in the scripting of Tiger 3 to make it bigger and better than the previous two films, as the character of Tiger is the first one from his spy universe, that expanded in 2019 with Hrithik Roshan as Kabir, and now, all set for the entry of Shah Rukh Khan with Siddharth Anand directed Pathan. Salman has an extended cameo in Pathan, and he is expected to join the team within next 10-days.
