EXCLUSIVE: Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan to be shot inside Burj Khalifa; Massive action scenes planned

Burj Khalifa continues to be one of the leading tourist attractions in the UAE, and the Indian films set in Dubai, never fail to take an exterior shot of one of the tallest towers in the world. Recently, Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani filmed a song set against the backdrop of Burj Khalifa, whereas Sudeep launched the logo of his upcoming film on the iconic spot. Pinkvilla has now learnt that the team of Siddharth Anand directed Pathan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead are planning to shoot inside the tallest tower.
“The idea is to go one notch above what’s already done so far. Apart from Mission Impossible and Fast and Furious franchise, not many films have been shot inside Burj Khalifa, and Pathan will be among the first few Indian films (probably the first) to have actual visuals of the tower from inside. A big scale action scene centered around Burj Khalifa is in the offing from the team of Pathan,” revealed a source close to the development, adding further that UAE as a location has been explored in several action films in Bollywood, but having an action scene set against the backdrop of Burj Khalifa will be a unique attraction from Bollywood.
“It’s a prolonged action sequece designed by an international stunt team, and one can expect spectacular visuals on the screen. It’s a culmination of Siddharth Anand, Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan’s vision, to shoot a massive action scene at Burj Khalifa. Don’t be surprised if you find SRK fighting on the top of the tower just like Tom Cruise, when you watch Pathan on the big screen. However, all the details of this Burj Khalifa fight scene have been kept under wraps,” the source added. Apart from Burj Khalifa, the team of Pathan has been shooting some chase sequences at real locations of Dubai.
“It’s car, bike, guns, blasts, hand to hand combats – get ready for action, that’s sleek and stylish, at international repute in Pathan,” the source added. With Pathan, Aditya Chopra is expanding his spy universe that comprises of Salman Khan as Tiger and Hrithik Roshan as Kabir. Salman has a cameo in Pathan, making an appearance as Tiger, whereas one is yet to hear about Hrithik’s involvement in the film.
Pathan went on the floors in November last year and is expected to be wrapped up by June 2021. The makers intend to release it during the Gandhi Jayanti or Diwali weekend; however, it depends on several factors coming together and a final call on release date will be taken shortly.
