With Sooryavanshi and ’83 finally gearing up for a theatrical release, Shibasish Sarkar is rather relaxed and is looking forward as a CEO of Reliance Entertainment to what’s in the store for them in the coming financial year. And he is definitely ecstatic given that they have a diverse slate of releases with multiple partners over the next one year. Shibasish informs that, after working with Neeraj Pandey on multiple films over the last few years, they are gearing up for as many as four films in the span of next 12 months.
“We have multiple films lined up with Neeraj with the big one being Vikram Vedha. We are looking to make an official announcement about that very soon. We are also remaking the Malayalam film, Ishq and then collaborating with Neeraj on his own directorial, Chanakya with Ajay Devgn,” Shibasish informs. While he refuses to divulge into the cast of Vikram Vedha at the moment, he promises that an announcement is on the way. Apart from the aforementioned three films, there’s another Neeraj and Reliance collaboration in the offing.
“We are making a film with Vidyut Jammwal, to be directed by Tinu (Suresh Desai, Rustom director). It will go into production sometime around the month of July and August,” he smiles. Apart from the theatrical slate, Shibasish informs that his production house is venturing into the digital and television world too, with plethora of content up for offing. Meanwhile, the much awaited 83 fronted by Ranveer Singh is confirmed for an June 4 opening, whereas Sooryavanshi on the other hand is yet to get an official release date.
However, the trade buzz is that it’s more or less confirmed for a theatrical release on April 2, with all stakeholders reaching a closure in the terms of release. The team now awaits the Covid-scenario in Maharashtra to improve a bit and get some clarity on the possibility of another lockdown, before making an official announcement.
