EXCLUSIVE: Sooraj Barjatya, son Avnish gear up for tale of friendship, destination wedding and nuclear family
The Hum Aapke Hain Koun director is ready to present three distinct stories to the audience with Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Salman Khan respectively among others.
Pinkvilla had earlier reported that Sooraj Barjatya is collaborating with Amitabh Bachchan and Boman Irani for his next directorial, which is a tale of friendship. We also revealed that the film might on floors as early as February 2021, however, now we bring an additional revised update on the much awaited directorial of Sooraj Barjatya. “The film rolls around September and not in February. There was a confusion within the industry, but Sooraj ji takes his own sweet time in pre-production and also believes in prolonged music seating. While the script and screenplay is locked, he takes the film on floors only by September. By then, even Amitabh Bachchan would have wrapped up his prior commitments,” revealed a source.
Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly loved the script and agreed to come on board the film right after the first narration. The film is said to be a typical Sooraj Barjatya saga, that celebrates bonds and human relationships like a festival. And the relation in question this time around is friendship between two senior citizens. The film will release sometime in 2022, and right after that, Sooraj moves on to his ambitious directorial with Salman Khan. It’s a mature love story of married couple against the backdrop of nuclear families and an idea that Sooraj has been toying it for a while now.

While he has a vision in mind of how things unfold in the second half, he will put it down on paper once the Amitabh Bachchan – Boman Irani film is out of his system. While no timelines are in place for the film, Salman will be doing at-least 3 films -Tiger 3, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and another film - before moving onto Sooraj Ji’s next,” the source added.
His son, Avnish too is gearing up for a debut this year. The film is said to be a young destination wedding film, on the lines of Yeh Jaawaani Hai Deewani. While media reports suggest that Meezaan has come on board the film, our source insists that the cast is yet to be locked. “The film calls for young actors, and the casting is underway. The idea is to take it on floors by end of this year with a schedule in India and abroad. In an ideal scenario, the shoot would have kicked off by now, but Covid played a spoilt sport,” the source concluded. With three films lined up, Sooraj Barjatya is now trying to bring Rajshri Film back in track and we await multiple official announcements in the months to follow.
