The 66th National Award was announced just today and much to everyone's delight, AndhaDhun won the Best Hindi film award, while Badhaai Ho won the Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment. Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal bagged the Best Actor Award for AndhaDhun and Uri respectively. Apart from this, it is Surekha Sikri, who was perhaps one of the biggest highlights in Badhaai Ho, who won the Best Supporting Actor award for the film. This came as a sweet surprise for the veteran actor.
While talking to Pinkvilla, Surekha said that she wasn't expecting this but is very happy to have received a National Award. "I did not expect this. I am pleasantly surprised. This made me so happy. I am very happy for the whole team and everyone who worked really hard for this." She also added that while she only understood of the award when she started receiving calls and congratulatory messages, Surekha also added, "Every one of us worked really hard for the movie, so I am obviously very very happy for the team."
Tell her about Ayushmann getting an award as well and she exclaimed, "I am also very happy for Ayushmann, he is a very good actor." Well, last year has been splendid for the Hindi film industry in particular. Ayushmann and Vicky expressed their gratitude for having received the coveted award. Padman too won the Best film on social cause award. The film dealt with the topic of menstrual health.
