EXCLUSIVE: Team Stree expresses gratitude after winning a galore of awards at Star Screen Awards 2018
In an EXCLUSIVE chat with Pinkvilla, Dinesh Vijan, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and others open up about winning five awards at the Star Screen Awards 2018.
It was a star studded night at the Star Screen Awards 2018 which took place last night. From Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, to Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor and others made it to the red carpet looking their stylish best. While many big movies managed to win an award last evening, it was a different rush for Team Stree who won not one but five awards. Rajkummar Rao won the Best Actor award while Stree got the Best film award. Not just that, Amar Kaushik bagged the most promising debutante director award followed by Pankaj Tripathi bagging the Best Actor in a Supporting role award. Sumit Arora also bagged the Best Dialogue award at the evening.
In an EXCLUSIVE interview to PINKVILLA, co-producer Dinesh Vijan said, "It is extremely gratifying to be awarded for your hard work. This year has truly belonged to clutter breaking and genre defining cinema. Great content is making its mark in popular categories and this gives us the confidence to back great stories. A truly hardworking and committed crew lead by Amar has made Stree what it is. Last year Hindi medium and this year, Stree, the audiences have spoken and we couldn’t feel more proud!"
On the other hand, Rajkummar added, "Stree is very special to me. The love we have received has been extremely overwhelming. The awards validate our hard work and I am thankful to Amar and the entire team." Amar Kaushik, who did a great job directing the horror comedy, said, "I’m overjoyed to receive such love and appreciation for my debut film! One’s debut is always special, but the reactions we have got have made this an experience that will be cherished always. Each member of the Stree team played a significant role in making it a success and I am so glad I got to work with them for my first film. What a dream debut it has been and these awards have added all the excitement to usher us into the new year! Looking forward to an equally thrilling and encouraging 2019."
"I am thrilled to receive the supporting actor award from Star Screen awards. While I was at the awards ceremony I got a flashback of my entire journey of Stree from my first meeting to the shooting in Chanderi, the locals there and adding the small nuances to my character. It has been a fruitful and beautiful journey for me. Filmmaking is always a teamwork, everyone has a contribution to it. Amar, Pooja (Vijan), Dinoo, Rajkummar, Shraddha, Abhishek all of us were like a family on the shoot. We used to play cricket on sets in our free time. There was a lot of positivity on sets which does transform in your performance. Would like to thank Maddock films, Dinoo Amar, Raj and DK , Shraddha, Rajkummar and the entire team. The film has bagged five awards, its a proud feeling for all of us," Pankaj Tripathi exclaimed.
Dialogue writer Sumit stated, "I grew up watching and reading about Screen Awards and now to get one, is still a surreal feeling. I feel extremely happy. This year was a great year at movies and it was evident with the nominee list. This is my first award and I see this as an encouragement to work on many more exciting scripts like Stree."
