EXCLUSIVE: Terminator: Dark Fate star Arnold Schwarzenegger: Terminator was 'breakthrough' for filmmaking & me
Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to do roles apart from the stereotypical 'muscle man', like in Conan the Barbarian (1982). Hence, the 72-year-old actor feels that the Terminator franchise was a major breakthrough for him as well as filmmaking, in general. Read below to know more about what Arnold had to say on the same.
In some amazing news for Terminator fans, Terminator: Dark Fate brings back beloved characters like T-800 and Sarah Conner as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton are here to slay us one more time! Directed by Deadpool (2016) fame Tim Miller, Terminator: Dark Fate takes place 27 years after the events of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991).
While talking about the impact that the Terminator franchise had on him as an actor, Arnold credits the movie for launching his illustrious career. "I had done Conan the Barbarian (1982), but that was about showing the body and the muscles. I wanted to get out of that and The Terminator was really the first movie that was all about the face, the eyes and acting. It was a small movie but brilliantly written, designed and directed. It was a major breakthrough for filmmaking and for me," Schwarzenegger shared.

The 72-year-old actor is particularly proud of the fact that Terminator is the only character to be included in both the American Film Institute's list of Top 50 villains (at No. 22) and Top 50 Heroes (at No. 48).
"The idea always was to be the villain but make everyone walk out and say, 'That’s really cool! Can you imagine if you had that kind of a power?’ People find him inspirational in some ways as well as entertaining.'" Arnold confessed.
