In 2012, three actors made their big Bollywood debut with a Karan Johar directorial. Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt starred in Student of the Year and 5 years later are at the top of the game.

While Alia and Sidharth have witnessed their fair share of hits and misses, Varun has given 9 back-to-back hits with the recent one being Judwaa 2 which has done phenomenal business at the box office and is still going strong.

When Pinkvilla got in touch with Varun to ask him about his 5-year Bollywood journey, the humble actor replied, "October 19, I complete 5 years in the film industry. I'm grateful and happy but now want to think about the present and not be happy with what has happened."

On whether the expectations from him add any pressure on him as a performer,  Varun revealed, "Pressure is there in everything in life, but when I'm shooting for a film I'm the happiest that makes me feel the most alive. I'm going to still do things my way and not change just because now the media feels I'm a bigger star. I do films for the overall impact they bring on people not just for my own personal benefit."

When we asked him about his upcoming movie, October which is being helmed by Shoojit Sircar and stars debutante Binita Sandhu, Varun revealed, "I connect to a film for various reasons. I have a deep connection with October. I can't talk much about it now."
