EXCLUSIVE: Varun Sharma OPENS UP on the success of Chhichhore and the type of roles he wants to do in future
Varun Sharma was last seen on the big screen in the superhit college drama Chhichhore alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor
One of the most talented actors in Bollywood, Varun Sharma is known best for his mind blowing expressions and impeccable comic timing. He began his career with the sleeper hit Fukrey as Chucha and went on to entertain us with his performance in films such as Fukrey Returns, Arjun Patiala and Khandaani Shafakhana. He was last seen on the big screen in the superhit college drama Chhichhore alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor and once again wowed us with his character Sexa.
In an exclusive chat, the actor opened up about his career and said, “I am pretty happy with the way my career is shaping up. I am happy that I am able to make people laugh and smile. Be part of this industry. At the same time, there are lot of different genres that I have to be part of, different directors I want to work with. There are different kind of roles I want to do and I will never leave comedy as this has what has given me space. The attempt to do other genres will constantly be there. I am not very scared of getting similar kind of roles. If I keep on doing different kind of roles in the same manner then only, I will get type casted and stereotyped. If I kind of do different shades of comedy in the same genre then I think I won’t get stereotyped. It’s up to me and my talent that I won’t get stereotyped.” Talking about the success of his latest film, Varun said, “I am thankful for Nitesh sir for believing in me and giving me that part.”
His character in every film has been unique and his performance garnered a huge fan following. About this, the actor shared, “I think it’s a mixture of everything. The biggest credit goes to the writer to write such characters which get embedded into the viewers’ heart and the director whose vision makes everything so connect with people and on top of that the entire team who culminated efforts.” When asked what type of roles he would like to play in the future, Varun stated, “I want to do a thriller, kind of drama. I love Zoya Akhtar, I love Karan Johar. I would love to work with Rohit Shetty and Nitesh Tiwari. There are so many beautiful films these guys make.”
“Success and failure is part and parcel of career graph. There is lot to learn from mistakes. I have had some films which had not worked at the box office but we have to learn from it. Obviously you feel bad but I am an examples who have seen failure and success in two months,” concluded Varun Sharma.
