EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Deepika Padukone on Chhapaak: Hopefully, we'll be able to bring about a social change
In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, Deepika Padukone got candid about her next film, Chhapaak and stated how there is so much to learn from Laxmi Agarwal's journey.
With her power-packed performance that left us in awe with Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone decided to take a sabbatical for a year. During this magical time, the actress tied the knot with beau Ranveer Singh, after six years of togetherness. Now that the wedding festivities are over and we will soon be welcoming 2019, Deepika will kickstart shooting for her next. Titled Chhapaak, this Meghna Gulzar directorial is based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, whose story deserves to be told.
In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Pinkvilla, we asked Deepika how important it was for her, not just as an actor but also as a woman, to tell Laxmi's story. On this Deepika stated, "It's an important story to be told. Period. I don't think it has anything to do with male or female, it's about the human spirit. It's about bravery and triumph. Hopefully, we'll be able to bring about a social change. The only reason we are able to tell this story of brave souls like Laxmi (Agarwal), who have had the courage to turn their life around and make it something positive. There's so much more than just the incident itself."

"Of course, that's one part of the story but there's so much more about that. About their journey, about their triumph which I think there's a lot for us to learn from," Deepika concluded.
