Vishal’s Chakra hit the big screen last week and the actor is now all gearing up to commence shooting for his directorial, the sequel to detective drama, Thupparivaalan. While Chakra saw a release in Hindi as well, Pinkvilla has learnt that his 2014 action thriller, Naan Sigappu Manithan, is all set for a Hindi remake soon. Ekta Kapoor, who has films like Deadly, Doobara, Ek Villain 2 and the Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo remake under her kitty, has bagged the rights to bring the film in Hindi.

In an interaction with Pinkvilla, when Vishal was asked if he wants to see any of his films remade in Hindi and the actor said, “In-fact, one of my films, Naan Sigappu Manithan, is already being remade in Hindi. There’s another film, Irumbu Thirai, whose shoot will start sometime this year.” Prod him on details and he shares, “Naan Sigappu Manithan is being made by Balaji (Ekta Kapoor) and they are such sweet people. They even invited me to hear their version of the story. I haven't heard from them about the actor or star-cast.”

Vishal believes that the concept of narcolepsy in Naan Sigappu Manithan makes it unique and ideal for a Hindi remake. “It’s a very different concept that gelled well with the audience. It’s about narcolepsy and even I had no idea about it when the script was narrated to me. People get irritated seeing the regular routine stuff. But when you make something which is real and spoken in a commercial format, the audience is on the edge of the seat. I think, even Chakra falls in the similar space,” he signs off.

The Tamil original was helmed by Thiru and was declared a commercial success. Vishal’s character suffered from a sleeping disorder, called Narcolepsy, a chronic sleep disorder characterized by overwhelming daytime drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep. We wait to hear an official update from Ekta Kapoor on the status of this film as also the casting.
