EXCLUSIVE: Were promotions of Thugs of Hindostan starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan cancelled last minute?
Aamir Khan apparently hasn't been too happy about his character in Thugs of Hindostan following which multiple promotional tours were cancelled. Read exclusive details.
Thugs of Hindostan starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif released in theatres on November 8 and while the movie has opened to mixed response, the box office numbers are staggering. Initial report suggests that the movie took a bumper opening of more than 49 crores on its first day. However, now we hear that Aamir Khan, who plays the role of Firangi Mallah, wasn't very happy with the way the film and his character turned out to be.
From what we hear, there was a major multi city tour planned for promotions, but it was dropped after the team and the actor realised the film was not what it should've turned out to be. In fact, Aamir himself has also said in a Press Conference that Firangi is someone who you don't want to be make friends with. Aamir's image in the public eye is that of an actor who has always created memorable characters and somebody one would look up to-- even his character in Secret Superstar, though irritating, is someone who gives voice to a girl who aspires to become a singer.
TOH may have collected Rs 50 crores on day one but that does not change the negative perception which is bound to affect the business of the film in the long run. Diwali did not suit Aamir Khan, clearly. Post Thugs, Aamir might shift back to Christmas release date which has always proved to be lucky for him.
