EXCLUSIVE: Will Sanju be the biggest opener for Ranbir Kapoor? Trade Experts share their views

Will Raju Hirani’s Sanju be the third film to cross the Rs 30 crore on a non-holiday? Trade pundits feel that the buzz of the film is very strong and advances have open in a big way for the Dutt biopic. The other two non-holiday films were Tiger Zinda Hai which collected Rs 34.10 on day one of its releases, Dhoom 3 grossed Rs 33 crore. Trade analyst Atul Mohan claims that the film is going to take a bumper opening at the box office and will definitely do a business of Rs 25 to 30 crore on the day of its release. He said, "I have told that Rs 2400 tickets are getting full in the Directors Cut cinema. The day one collection from there is going to be around 25 lakh. Even the multiplex audiences are booking in advance and looking at the trend people are coming to cinemas for good movies."
With the buzz around the film, so strong the Ranbir Kapoor starrer in all probabilities is going to beat Dangal which stands at Rs 29 crore on day one and Race 3 which collected Rs 28 crore and both were non-holiday releases. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, "The advance booking is so terrific and director Rajkumar Hirani has a matchless track record and all the films that he has made have been benchmarks besides it is a biopic on Sanjay Dutt’s life and Ranbir Kapoor has created tremendous curiosity also there is no other film as Race has exhausted its run at the box office."
When asked if it could become the highest one-day opener on a non-holiday, Adarsh said, "It has the potential but let's wait and watch. I think it is going to be a huge huge opener."
Sanju is going to be the biggest opening for Ranbir Kapoor. His film Besharam took the biggest opening at the box office which was Rs 20 crore and the second highest was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which was about Rs 13 crore.
