Katrina Kaif's EMOTIONALLY nostalgic trip down memory lane with Mammootty and Priyadarshan!
It’s not often that Katrina Kaif is seen at Navratri events but the occasion was a special one, as she was visiting the Kalyanaraman’s home. As they were hosting Navratri celebrations at their home, she visited them and was part of their festivities for the first time as a special invitee. She had just returned from Abu Dhabi after completing the shoot of Tiger Zinda Hai and was specially flown down by a chartered flight which included her and her team to Kerala, on Monday. But the event became memorable for her as she reunited with two South celebrities after years – megastar Mammootty and director Priyadarshan and she kept telling Priyan to come back to Bollywood.
It was a pleasant surprise for Katrina Kaif when she walked into the festivities. It was a glamour and glitz party, graced by the biggies from the Southern film industry, but her biggest highs were when she bumped into a lot of her old-time friends like director Priyadarshan and South megastar Mammootty.
Says a source present at the party, “A happy Katrina, warmly hugged ‘Priyan Sir’, as she calls him and an equally surprised Priyadarshan, who had directed Katrina in the Hindi comedy De Dana Dan (2009), was heard commenting that it is great to meet her after so very long. Katrina, who has a sharp memory, was quick to correct him and said that they had, in fact, met at a private function a few years ago and that the busy director seems to have forgotten all about her after working with her eight years ago. Priyan, who is currently directing a Tamil film starring Sandhya Shetty, reported he would love to work with her again.”
Priyadarshan says, “I met Katrina at the Ambani home three years ago and I had not her after that so I was thrilled to meet her at the Kalyanaraman residence. As Katrina was talking to Mammootty, I joined them. She greeted me with a warm hug and said, ‘Priyan Sir! Where have you been? I have not seen you for three years! She was also so happy to meet me. Katrina kept telling me ‘Come back to Bollywood! You are missing from the screen.’ I had taken a three-and-a-half-year break from movies due to personal reasons so I told her that and added that I came back and made a successful film, Oppam, and now I am coming back. It’s a strange co-incidence – Katrina had done Mammootty’s Malayalam movie Balram Vs Taradas and the best part is I am the one who sent her for the film. Mammootty asked me to talk to Katrina for his film at that time and I am the one who told her. She didn’t know who he was so I told her it was a good project for her – good producer, director and a good story and that’s how she did the film. As she was telling Mammootty at the Navratri festival that she remembered working with him, I butted in and said - ‘Okay I am the reason you both worked together!’ And we all started laughing.”
Katrina also met Mammootty after 11 years and it was an emotional reunion for her. The source adds, “They met after years and shared some memories from the film and discussed the various changes in Malayalam cinema. Katrina also mentioned that she enjoyed watching South films and would love to act in them.”
The actress was taken around by Rajesh Kalyanaraman, who introduced her to Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and Tamil actors Prabhu Ganesan, Karthi and Vikram Prabhu. There was also a Bomma Golu, a doll and figurine display part of the Navratri festival of South) and puja which Katrina attended and lit the lamp.
