Hollywood continues to mourn the passing of Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg at 39. The actress was found dead by her mother on February 26, 2025, in her New York City apartment situated in Columbus Circle, as reported by People.

As per the portal, Michelle's friends have noted that the actress was 'really down emotionally' and 'was struggling' through the year prior to her death. 'She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling,' the insider added, stating she looked 'pale, gaunt' and 'very thin.'

On the other hand, a report by DailyMail.com suggests that the actress was running sick for a while. In addition, the portal suggests that she could barely walk down the flight of restaurant stairs.

Trachtenberg had undergone a liver transplant, leading to her health conditions. The actress had also taken to Instagram to respond to commenters about her health struggles.

In the days leading up to her death, Michelle Trachtenberg was reportedly struggling with serious health issues, according to DailyMail and People. Sources told People that she had been open about her declining condition, describing her as looking pale, gaunt, and very thin.

A restaurant worker told DailyMail that she appeared extremely unwell during a recent outing in New York City, struggling to walk downstairs. ABC News reported that she had recently undergone a liver transplant, which may have led to complications. Despite denying health concerns on social media, she was found unresponsive on February 26, 2025.

In January 2024, Michelle Trachtenberg addressed concerns about her health after followers commented on her appearance. When some suggested she looked unwell after posting a selfie, she responded with a follow-up post, writing, "Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition, no problems. Why do you have to hate? Get a calendar."

In another post, she pushed back against speculation, stating, "I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery. I am happy and healthy. Check yourself, haters."
