Hollywood Icons Pay Heartfelt Tribute to Val Kilmer

Val Kilmer’s passing came as a shock to many, as he had won countless hearts with his acting skills. Following the Top Gun: Maverick star’s demise, several big names in Hollywood paid tribute to him.

Known for his action-packed roles, the actor was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014. Although he recovered a few years later, a tracheostomy permanently affected his voice.

The actor passed away on April 1, 2025, due to pneumonia, prompting heartfelt tributes from Hollywood stars.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Cage expressed his shock and admiration for Val Kilmer. “I thought he was a genius actor. I enjoyed working with him on Bad Lieutenant and admired his commitment and sense of humor. He should have won the Oscar for The Doors,” said the Ghost Rider star.

Piers Morgan, known for his sharp broadcasting skills, took to X to honor Val Kilmer, stating that while the actor played many roles, he would always be Iceman to him—referring to his iconic Top Gun (1986) role.

Similarly, Michael Rapaport described Val Kilmer as a great, unique, and versatile actor who had amazed him with several performances.

Legendary actor Ralph Fiennes also paid tribute by sharing a picture from their animated film The Prince of Egypt on social media, captioning it, “Val Kilmer, rest in peace.”

David Zucker, who cast the Heat actor in his first feature film role in Top Secret!, told THR, “I find myself still a bit shocked to lose him. My brother Jerry, Jim Abrahams, and I had the distinction of giving Val Kilmer his first movie role.”

Meanwhile, Francis Ford Coppola took to Instagram, calling Kilmer the most talented actor since his high school days.
