Fanney Khan Mid Movie Review: Anil, Aishwarya and Rajkummar starrer is a snooze fest in the first half
Here’s the mid movie review of Fanney Khan. Directed by Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan stars Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles.
The expectations from Fanney Khan have been above and beyond given that the movie stars the evergreen Anil Kapoor, the bewitching Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the effervescent Rajkummar Rao. However, the first half of Fanney Khan is a snooze-fest and none of the stars are to be blamed. Instead, it is the direction, writing, dialogues and shoddy editing that fail to impress us. The music which is an essential part of the movie fails to carry the "musical" forward.
Anil Kapoor and Pihu Sand, who makes her debut are the main focus and portray the troubled father-daughter duo effortlessly. Rajkummar Rao is Anil's faithful sidekick who plays the lovable goofball with finesse while Aishwarya may go OTT at times, but just like in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, she owns every frame she is in, however, limited it may be. The kidnapping scene is the best part of the first half but does not manage to lift our spirits. Now on to the second half!
Will the real Fanney Khan finally outshine the others? Will Baby Singh’s kidnapping lead us to a new revelation and will Rajkummar Rao and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s characters fall in love and live happily ever after in spite of the class difference? All this in the second half..
