Kesari Mid Movie review: Akshay Kumar starrer narrates an untold story of bravery rivetingly
Kesari Mid Movie review out! The film starring Akshay Kumar & Parineeti Chopra follows the events leading to the lesser known story of Battle of Saragarhi, a military skirmish that took place between 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Army and around 10000 Afghanis in 1897.
Anurag Singh & Akshay Kumar retells the Battle of Saragarhi in a most compelling way
Anurag Singh directorial is all action packed but I have to say that it is a compelling fast-paced war drama. Kesari follows the events leading to the lesser known and lesser told story of Battle of Saragarhi, a military skirmish that took place between 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Army and around 10,000 Afghanis in 1897.
The very first scene of Akshay establishes his character that he is not just a protective soldier who works for the British but a human being with valour and grit.
Ideal dessert setup of 1800s and wonderful cinematography is enhanced by terrific performances by Akshay Kumar as well the supporting cast.
Kumar as Havildar Ishar Singh who leads the pack clearly stands out as the actor fits the role like a glove.
So without a doubt, he owns the first half completely. The supporting cast too perfectly bring the bravery and fighting spirit that is needed in a war drama. Kumar's chest thumping dialogues with valour will surely invoke feelings of patriotism.
Talkng about Parineeti, she played her part convincingly well till now. Bromance between Akshay and his battalion provides some brighter and lighter moments. Also, the comedy scenes post the high intense shots are a welcome respite.
All in all the first half is engrossing and expecting the Battle of Saragarhi to start off on a high note in the second half as the war call by the Afghanis has already made it to the interval.
