Kamal Haasan, known for hosting the popular TV reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, has decided to take a hiatus from the same. Marking a break from his 7-year-long journey, he has confirmed he will step away from hosting the 8th season with an official statement due to his movie commitments.

Taking to his official social media handle, the actor penned the words, “With a heavy heart, I wish to inform you that I will be taking a small break from our journey that began 7 years ago. Due to prior cinematic commitments, I'm unable to host the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Tamil.”

The actor further emphasized his everlasting gratitude towards the people and expressed his privilege to reach everyone’s home. Furthermore, the actor called the show one of the best in Indian reality TV ventures and unveiled how he was able to impart his learnings and learn more as well.

Bigg Boss Tamil started its broadcasting on Vijay TV on June 25, 2017. From the first season onwards, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan has been hosting the show over the years. As Haasan steps away from the show for its next season, it will be interesting to see who will replace him now.

Back in 2022, the spin-off OTT version called Bigg Boss Ultimate was streamed on Disney+ Hotstar, which eventually brought in Silmabarasan TR to host the show. However, there have been no updates till now on whether STR will be the successor for Kamal Haasan in season 8 or whether some other prominent actor will take it up.

Coming to the work front of the actor, Kamal Haasan was last seen in the Shankar directorial movie Indian 2. The film which serves as the sequel to their 1996’s Indian focuses on the return of vigilante Senapathy to rid the country of corruption once again. The actor will once again reprise the role for its third and final part Indian 3.

Moreover, Kamal Haasan is also set to play the lead role in Mani Ratnam’s movie Thug Life which has recently begun its dubbing session.
