NFL star Anthony Richardson recently spoke with Kay Adams in an interview where he was asked how, according to him, he would fare in the NBA league. In response, the 22-year-old player confidently claimed he could defeat four-time NBA champion LeBron James in a one-on-one dunk contest, considering the NBA legend is about to turn 40.

Richardson then went on to say that he could average 13 points per game. His claims were considerable, provided that last summer, Richardson's basketball skills even captivated social media.

The Indianapolis Colts quarterback said, as quoted by Fadeaway World, “I think I would do pretty good. I feel like I would average a good 12-13 (PPG) in the NBA… I think I will win… (Favorite player) in the NBA? LeBron James. Right now? Yeah (I could beat him in a dunk contest) because he’s about to be 40, so I would agree.”

It should be noted that the NFL rookie went viral during a pickup game in July 2023. During that time, his video of throwing down a thunderous jam on the open floor made rounds on the internet.

Nevertheless, although James has never participated in a dunk contest, a matchup between an NFL player and an NBA player could be worth watching as several athletes usually try their hands on different sports at times.

Just a day ago, Tom Brady, in his latest vlog, discussed how he plans to make a dream team in which the 39-year-old Lakers player will be his tight end and may even play as a receiver.

Brady then mentioned other players he wanted on the team, including Anthony Edwards, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum. While this team is purely imaginary, the NFL legend truly understands the skills these athletes possess.

Meanwhile, Richardson, who the Colts drafted in 2023’s first round, hasn’t competed in any games since October 8, 2023, as he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. He competed in four games and threw a total of 84 passes, completing 50 of them for 577 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception.

However he made his long-awaited return to the starting lineup on Sunday, August 11, but his poor performance disappointed his fans. It, however, remains to be seen how he fares moving forward and whether he can ever get a chance to face off against James in a competition.
