EXCLUSIVE: Yeh Hai Mohabbatein: Abhishek Verma talks about returning to the show, TRPs and his inhibitions

Abhishek Verma aka Adi from Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has returned to the show, and while the fans of the show are obviously excited, Abhishek himself is just as much pumped up about the return. We got in touch with the actor where he spoke about how elated he is on the return, and how he asked Sandiip Sikcand to call him back. He also spoke about what was running in his mind when he made his return, and how shooting for the show is the only thing he wants, and he is happy to do that.

On his excitement about returning to the show, the actor said, "It is very magical for me because I was not expecting that I will come back to the show because I had called Sandiip sir two-three months back and told him sir, I have been waiting and getting impatient now, can you just call me back. I just told him to call me back in the show, and he told me I don't know about this show but we will do another show with you, so I was like okay. And then suddenly he called me a week back and told me, come meet me. I assumed it is for another show so I was like okay. Then he told me the story, the character, and I was like damn, rabba Shukriya (thank god). As much sad as I was when I left, I am happy double that much about returning, and I am very very happy."

His return is not as Adi, and talking about if it is different returning as a different character, he said, "I don't think about that, I just know that I've come to shoot with those people with whom I enjoy the most - Divyanka di, Karan bhaiya, and everyone else is such an amazing artist so irrespective of the character, I would've been happy to just come back. It is a part of life, and as an actor to get a chance to play different characters, and this show has already given me a chance to do that. Even this character of Yug is totally different from Adi so I was very excited and I was just waiting to get back."

He quit Udaan, and talking about the same, he said, "That was an extremely negative character, and I didn't seem to adjust well neither did it work too well for the show so I decided to quit the show and then it was a long waiting process to see what happens next."

When quizzed about the numbers, he said, "I don't really think much about numbers in the first place, and secondly TRPs do keep going up and down but the set audience that glues to the show, that remains and they always watch the show. So yes, when people think that the story should proceed in a certain way, it keeps their interest intact but the moment something unexpected comes along, even we don't happen to like it and I think that might be the reason for the highs and lows in TRPs. Otherwise, I don't think there's something in the show that is bad or not right."

His exit was sudden and so was the return, talking about which he stated, "I was like what has happened, are you joking or what is it. Because see, it often happens on shows that someone dies but they aren't dead for real, and I was like okay I'll go to the hospital and the bullet will be out and I'll come back but when I was told that you're going to be dead so you're going to be dead. However, at the same time, I was like okay this is a part of the show and what has to happen will happen. I just kept this in mind that this is for good, and even when I told my mother she was like it's okay, it is a part of life, who knows you'll find something better, and that positive is what made me really strong. I wasn't really visible while I was gone, and it was a hard time but when I came back I have received so much of love, which may be I didn't get back then, and now it is overwhelming. How people even tell me that we prayed for your return, and now it feels really good."

Asked if he has any inhibition about playing a different character, he said, "I just have one question in my mind that people know me as Adi, so to take that out from their heart and mind and at the same time make a place in their heart with a new character, it will be a difficult task for me, but I think if I try to be completely different from how Adi was so that they get a new identity for me altogether, it will be different and that is what all of us have worked on; it shouldn't in any way give out that Yug is close to Adi. All of this is challenging but we will see how Yug will be accepted with love and also I think Yug is more fun than Adi."
