Recently, we caught up with the gorgeous actor, who is currently on a sabbatical and asked her about her life post marriage, her equation with Neeraj and if it has been a conscious decision to keep her marriage life private.
Here's an excerpt from the interview:
Is it a conscious decision to keep your marriage life private?
It is not private. More than anything else, I don't know how to make it more public. I don't find a need, it is like a normal relationship which everyone shares with their better halves. Even Neeraj, he is a very camera-shy guy. When I tell him there will be media outside, he runs off, he never comes with me for events, he says "baby I don't want to see the camera yaar. I get very conscious." (laughs) So, that is why the relationship becomes private on its own accord.
Has life changed post marriage?
None, the only difference is earlier I used to sleep with my mum in the room, now I sleep with my husband. But besides that, there has been no change. My in-laws are awesome people, so I have no major responsibility as such. They have always encouraged me when it comes to my work. I don't think you need anything else when everyone around you is so supportive. Of course, you become a little more responsible and calmer because you know someone back home is always waiting for you. You want to think about that person before doing anything and going anywhere. That way, yes, it is little different otherwise when it comes to lifestyle, it is still the same. The only change in lifestyle is that I have been only watching Netflix. (laughs)
The thing is my husband is very cautious about his eating habits and his workouts, he is a very regular guy. I get motivated to go for workouts because of him otherwise given a choice I would never go for a workout. But now, I feel, with him, this is another way of spending time. So, he doesn't usually like eating outside, we have nothing else to do but watch Netflix. We only meet friends for Green Teas and coffees.
After playing an array of characters, how do you think you have grown as an actor?
I don't know how much I have grown through my characters because I am a very switch on and off kind of a person. I don't really carry my characters along with me but personally, it has helped me grow because in your first show you are like extremely aggressive and loud, you don't know how to deal with the people and politics. But over the years, you become much more aware and calmer about your surroundings. I have always been on time so never had those kinds of issues. I definitely want to be known for my work and work ethics so that is something I have maintained and not want to get spoilt. There is, of course, a lot of learning with every new show because you are exposed to so many different kinds of people and cultures.
It has also made me responsible. I still remember when I told my mom that I have signed a TV show and she told me 'you do understand right that you will be working for over 12 hours every day.' Earlier, when I as in college I used to sleep for 12 hours, so she was worried. I was like I will try and see what happens. Now, she is, of course, very proud of me.
So, yes, it has been a beautiful graph and I have been very proud of it.
Your favourite character of yours?
Madhubala, by far, I have enjoyed playing that character the most. That show gave me a lot of graph and a lot of distinct shades of playing a character. Like I was playing a daughter, daughter-in-law, mother and also a friend. I think that was one of my best shows and that show made me a better actor as well.
Are you open to doing web series?
I am totally open to it but nothing as of now has happened.
You were named as one of the top 10 Sexiest Asian Women recently. How does it feel?
I really don't know how they find me sexy. (laughs) I feel blessed and loved. I will definitely try to be more active on social media. It is just so unbelievable that for someone else you might get so excited. It is just an awesome feeling. It is just that I am bad at expressing sometimes so I don't know how to react to how much they love me and I love them.
