EXCLUSIVE- Ex-gf Preeti Simoes on Kapil Sharma: He has mental health issues, his family needs to understand
Preeti Simoes opens up about the harassment case that has been filed against her and others by comedian Kapil Sharma. The actor went berserk yesterday on Twitter.
Kapil Sharma is facing the heat currently after his Twitter rant on Friday evening where he abused a journalist. In his abusive tweets, Kapil vented out at a journalist alleging him of defaming him.
Later, he claimed to have filed a mental harassment case against his ex-manager and ex-girlfriend, Preeti Simoes, her sister Neeti Simoes and the journalist.
Kapil wrote, "Some people just want to defame you for few bucks but it will take ages to make a stand against the wrong.. I shall do it today n forever.."
We got in touch with Preeti to know her side of the story. An amused Preeti clarified that she hasn't received any intimidation of the complaint and hinted at the timing of the entire fiasco. Preeti's new LIVE comedy show, Dhan Dhana Dhan, featuring Sunil Grover, Shilpa Shinde, Sugandha Mishra and Ali Asgar among others goes on air today.
Preeti in an exclusive chat with us, said, "There is no complaint that has been filed. It is just a photograph that has been taken of something written on a laptop. I am assuming it is not him because he is on a drinking rampage since yesterday and has spoken to some journalist and then again tweeted at night. By now if I know the pattern, he must have passed out. So, I am sure it is one of his friends because basically, our show is launching today. It is our first episode and I think it is difficult for them to tolerate that these guys despite what we did to them have actually stood up and are doing their own work."
She added, "Why this great timing? I am just taking it with a pinch of salt and have no reaction to it except, 'Please Get Well Soon Kapil. The country needs you, you are a great comedian.'"
She added that his family needs to understand the gravity of the situation and must take care of him. "I think his family needs to understand that he has mental health issues and rather than encouraging him to drink and behave in a certain manner, his girlfriend/wife, and mom must take care of him and take him to a doctor because that is what he needs."
Taking a cue from her earlier revelation, we asked Preeti about the alleged complaint being filed, to this, she responded saying, "Where is the complaint? Nothing has come to me except for that stupid tweet. I look at his tweets as stupid because whatever he is doing in the last few days, talking to Sunil Grover, what he tweeted to Narendra Modi and what he tweeted yesterday, obviously, he is not in his senses. He is talking about Dawood Ibrahim and others, I think he is on a hallucination spree, either he is on some drugs or he is on some disease."
She continued, "So, I am not going to react to someone like that. Also, why will I extort Rs 25 lakhs which will be divided amongst three for personal information? Come on. It is little weird, 25 lakh mein kya hoga? I should be asking more, right?"
However, was she surprised by the entire controversy that uproared last evening? Preeti stated, "I am not surprised. You know what surprises me is everyone is not realising that he is not well and it is not depression, it is a mental illness. It could be anything."
Continuing further she added, "From his tweets and conversation, it is clear that he is not well. This is not the Kapil I know. I was just speaking to (sister and co-producer) Neeti (Simoes) yesterday, we were shooting for our episode and everybody who has worked with him were there, and everybody was of the same opinion that it is not the same Kapil we knew. This is a different man now. What has changed him in this one year is what we should be questioning. I don't think it is about his personal information being leaked. Writing about him cancelling shoots, is it a personal question?"
Well, we wonder what Kapil has to say on this.
