EXCLUSIVE- Vivek Dahiya on Qayamat Ki Raat co-star Karishma Tanna: There are no glitches, no reservations
Vivek Dahiya, in an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, opens up on working with Karishma Tanna in Qayamat Ki Raat and his collaboration with Ekta Kapoor.
After Naagin 3, Ekta Kapoor brings another thriller on the small screen in the form of Qayamat Ki Raat featuring Vivek Dahiya and Karishma Tanna. If the promo for the show is anything to go by, Vivek and Karishma are all set to take the viewers on a 'unique' rollercoaster ride.
Terming it a 'fantasy' thriller, Vivek in a candid conversation with PINKVILLA said, "It is a different kind of a revenge story with a tantrik who comes back to avenge his death. He was actually slaughtered into three pieces. His head, body, and hands were buried at different places and eventually 20 years later, he returns and retaliates and amidst this, there is a nice love story between Raj and Gauri. That is what the story revolves around."
Well, now that the plot is clear, we asked Vivek if he has some sort of an inclination towards thriller and supernatural shows. Case in point his previous show Kavaach which too had supernatural elements to it. To this Vivek replied, "I love watching them. My reason for saying yes to this was, one it was Balaji, second, the creative head of the show is very talented and she is also the creative head of Naagin."
He added, "When they narrated the story to me, I had no doubts that it won't work or will not turn out the same way they are narrating it to me. That risk is not there. Whatever you hear, you know it will be executed well. The one-liner of the story was nice and I also thought that I have played a lot of intense characters so far in my career, but this guy, on the contrary, is very laid back, fun loving kind of a guy, so I thought why not. Besides, it is a finite series so I did not have the obligation of being a part of something which is really long term. I was approached for several daily soaps before this but then they were infinite stories so you don't know how long it will go on for. You know sometimes it gets monotonous too."
Qayamat Ki Raat is Vivek's third collaboration with Ekta after Kavaach and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. When asked how has his equation with her changed, he stated, "The equation gets better with time. When you are working together, you get to know of their strengths and weaknesses. With her, I only got to know about her strengths. I can't think of anything else other than her who is a master of whatever she does. I don't know anyone else who understands business as much as she does and has a knack for creativity. So again, I felt I am in the safe hands. My equation with her has definitely improved when we were in London last time. We had gone for Yeh Hai Mohabbatein shoot. Divyanka [Tripathi] was shooting and London is my second home, I love to go there. I got to spend a lot of quality time with just her and got to learn so much. She might just be casually talking and that might just turn out to be so thought-provoking."
This is the first time Vivek will be seen opposite Karishma Tanna. When asked about his experience of working with Tanna, Vivek prompted, "It's brilliant. There are no glitches, no reservations. We hit it off the very first day. We are both fun-loving and take work seriously. We have immense respect for work and we value the opportunity that is being given to us. It is a good equation."
Have they at any point helped each other or guided each other through a scene? To this, Vivek stressed, "First of all, we have both worked and are experienced so I don't know if at any point we would seek each other's guidance. If there are questions, we approach the director. We haven't really guided one another in any matter or scene so far."
Qayamat Ki Raat premieres today at 7 PM on Star Plus.
