Aman Gupta, the co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of boAt, is a name that every young entrepreneur and tech lover alike are familiar with. Best known for his role as a Shark on Shark Tank India, Aman's success did not come easy. His journey is a story of multiple failures, persistence, and an unwavering belief in his dreams. On the cool Shark's birthday, let's take a look at his journey.

Born and raised in Delhi, Aman Gupta came from a family of chartered accountants (CAs). Following in his father's footsteps, he became one of the youngest CAs in India. However, he quickly realized that finance was not his passion. He dabbled in several jobs and businesses, including working with his father, but nothing seemed to satisfy him.

In 2011, he pursued an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, specializing in marketing and general management. Despite gaining valuable knowledge, he still struggled to find his true calling.

Aman faced six failed businesses before finally striking gold with boAt. By the time he turned 35, he had tried and failed at multiple ventures. His wife eventually gave him an ultimatum—figure out his passion in two years or move on. Determined to make a mark, he took a leap of faith and co-founded boAt with Sameer Mehta. The two entrepreneurs started their journey from a restaurant in Delhi, brainstorming ideas to enter the consumer electronics market, a highly competitive space.

BoAt started small, selling earphones, headphones, speakers, travel chargers, and premium rugged cables. Their breakthrough product was an ‘indestructible’ Apple charging cable, designed to last 10,000 bends, solving a common problem Apple users faced. They priced it at ₹1,500, significantly lower than Apple’s original cable, making it an instant hit.

The Shark and his team focused on understanding youth trends, hiring young employees to grasp the slang and preferences of millennials. They used unique marketing strategies, working with influencers and celebrities to build the brand. Shikhar Dhawan, Kartik Aaryan, and Diljit Dosanjh, among others, have been the faces of the brand.

A long-time fan of Shark Tank, Aman once used lessons from the show to pitch his own business to investors. Years later, he got emotional when he was invited to be a part of the Indian version. Today, as a Shark Tank India 4 judge, he shares his knowledge and experience, encouraging budding entrepreneurs to embrace failures and keep hustling.
