Box Office Report: 'Welcome Back' off to a good start, 'Phantom' inches closer to 50 crores
The second installment to the much successful Welcome that released in 2008 has hit the screens today and early estimates predict good start for the movie.
According to report in Box Office India, 'Welcome Back' has had a good to decent opening as some circuits opened to good collections while others were average. The film's opening is very similar to Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra starrer 'Brothers' that released on August 14.
However, the main difference is that 'Brothers' was a holiday release with the film enjoying holiday on eve of Independence day, whereas 'Welcome Back' has a normal weekend. Also, the John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Shruti Haasan starrer has fared better in Gujarat while Brothers was better in East Punjab. The rest is pretty similar with the same circuits (Rajasthan, CI) leading for both films. The average occupancies are around 30%.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also confirmed the same and tweeted, "#WelcomeBack takes a good start at the domestic BO... India screen count: 3200 screens."
The exact numbers are awaited!
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Phantom has collected Rs. 2.88 crores on Thursday and has taken the grand total to Rs. 47.40 crores, slowly inching towards the 50 crores mark.
