Ajay Devgn's Shivaay and Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashed at the box office yesterday. While both the movies have received mixed reviews, the box office collections on the opening day clearly indicate the audience's preference.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil collected INR 13.30 crore on day one whereas Shivaay earned INR 8.75 crore. With this, ADHM has become the highest opener for Karan Johar. His last film Student of the Year had recorded INR 9.25 crore on day one.

Shivaay is on the lower side and has done well in places like Rajasthan, CP, Berar. However, it has underperformed in Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab. But due to Diwali, the business would be affected this weekend. The actual collections will reflect only from Monday.

Coincidentally, the business of ADHM and Shivaay are similar to Mohenjo Daro and Rustom clash with Karan's film doing similar business to Akshay's movie and Ajay's movie doing business in the range of Hrithik's period drama.
