Box Office Collection: Ittefaq and Thor: Ragnarok shows growth on Day 2
Here's the Day 2 collections of Ittefaq and Thor: Ragnarok.
This week, on Friday, we saw the clash between two movies - Ittefaq and Thor Ragnarok, respectively.
When it comes to Ittefaq, the movie had registered a 40% jump on Day two i.e. Saturday as it collected an impressive INR 5.25 crore, according to a leading trade website. The total collections now stand at INR 9.05 crore (INR 3.80 crore + INR 5.25 crore).
Directed by Abhay Chopra, Ittefaq stars Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna in the lead.
When Pinkvilla spoke to Girish Johar about the no-promotions technique, the film trade expert said, "It's a really great idea to look into the aspect of promoting films without actually going all out and spending just blindly, which I truly feel should be pushed. Because sometimes the budget of the film is less but the P&A costs have gone much higher. This is a good approach by the makers of Ittefaq to promote the film very smartly and I really think that it should work positively and start a trend wherein other makers also follow this."
Moving over to Thor: Ragnarok, the movie has already been declared a HIT within two days as it showed good growth on Saturday. On Day 2 Thor: Ragnarok earned INR 9 crore and the total collections now stand at INR 16.75 crore approx (INR 7.75 + INR 9 crore). What's interesting to know that Thor: Ragnarok is the seventh highest opener ever for a Hollywood film in India and the second highest Hollywood opener in 2017 after Fast and Furious 8.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), and Anthony Hopkins (Odin) in pivotal roles.
About Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi said, "I think sometimes people mistake a tonal shift as ‘We’re just going to make some ridiculous broad comedy where no one gives as— what happens and everyone gets stoned and sits around talking about saving the universe," and added, "We want people to care what happens and care that the hero succeeds. I think tonally it’s like a slight shift. I don’t feel nervous, I feel good about it.
