Box Office Collection: Saif Ali Khan's Chef witnesses a poor weekend; Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2 continues to shine
Here's how Saif Ali Khan's Chef and Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2 fared at the box office.
When the trailer of Saif Ali Khan's movie Chef came out, it was appreciated for its fresh take minus the normal masala movie we are used to seeing. However, the box office numbers for the movie have a different story to tell.
Day 1 of Chef saw the movie collecting a minor INR 1.05 crore while Day 2 collected only INR 1.15 crore. According to a leading trade website, Sunday saw the movie earn INR 1.35 crore which is still an extremely very low number.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, Chef also stars Svar Kamble, Padmapriya Dinesh Prabhakar, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Milind Soman. Chef is the Hindi adaptation of the 2014 Hollywood movie by the same name which then starred Jon Favreau, Emjay Anthony, Sofia Vergara, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.
When it comes to Judwaa 2, this Varun Dhawan starrer has been dominating the box office. According to the trade website, Sunday's collection stands at INR 7.75 crore. The total collections till now are INR 112.50 crore.
In another day or two, Judwaa 2 will pass the total collections of Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Salman Khan's Tubelight. Judwaa 2 will only be behind Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Akshay Kumar's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
Directed by David Dhawan, Judwaa 2 also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu and sees Varun in a twin avatar as Raja and Prem. The movie is a sequel to the 1997 comedy Judwaa which then starred Salman, Karisma Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu. Salman has a cameo in the movie as he reprises his iconic twin characters, Raja and Prem.
