After Yaariyan When I Didn't Get Work, I was Depressed - Himansh Kohli
Actor Himansh Kohli, who shot to fame with Divya Khosla Kumar's Yaariyan that released in 2014, hasn't been seen on the big screen for quite sometime now. Despite having a commercially successful film in his kitty, the actor didn't come across the right scripts and was initially disheartened.
But now the actor is slowly getting back and has signed a couple of films. He recently also shot for a short film titled Jump, a PSA made by the same team that made the no-smoking ad featuring Sunny Leone, Alok Nath and Deepak Dobriyal. The film sends across a message to all the youngsters battling depression and suicidal tendencies.
Ask Himansh what made him take up the video and he says, "We all go through this phase once in life. Few are lucky to have friends and family to discuss with. But there are some who do not get any support and end up giving up on their life. This film is to discourage that thought."
In the film, Himansh is seen sharing screen space with Holiday fame Freddy Daaruwala. Quiz Kohli on how was it working with Freddy and he says, "Initially I was nervous because I loved Holiday and he was brilliant as the baddie. So when I met him I thought will I be able to match up to him and all. But it was all good. Freddy was helpful and we became great friends while shooting."
Given that his debut film came out in 2014 and there hasn't been any release post that, probe Himansh if he was depressed about it?
"Frankly speaking yes. I too suffered depression after Yaariyan when I didn't get work. Especially because the film was hit. I am normal human being and this did take a toll over me. I was jobless and sitting home," admits Himansh adding further, "But my family stood by me. I overcame the depression and slowly started networking again. I have signed few films and hopefully they will be releasing soon."
