Internationally celebrated director Mira Nair's Queen of Katwe has already generated critical acclaim and rave reviews at various festival circuits. Buzz is that the Namesake director will have a special celebrity screening in Mumbai tonight with guests such as Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Richa Chadha, Randeep Hooda, Abhay Deol, Konkana Sen Sharma, RajKumar Rao, Sanjay Suri, Tanvi Azmi, Ram Kapoor and more in attendance.
Queen of Katwe is an American biographical sports drama film starring David Oyelowo, Lupita Nyong'o, and Madina Nalwanga. The film depicts the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan chess prodigy from Katwe who becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her performances at the World Chess Olympiads. The film garnered critical praise for its black cast, setting, and subject matter.
The film is slated for an October 7, 2016, release.
