EXCLUSIVE: Raveena Tandon- Proud of Jaya Bachchan for her statement on women safety in Rajya Sabha
Raveena Tandon while speaking to Pinkvilla was all praises for Jaya Bachchan who in Rajya Sabha slammed the Govt for having a lackadaisical approach to women safety.
Raveena Tandon is currently busy promoting her upcoming movie Maatr which essentially aims to highlight the grim state of women safety in the country and the stark rise in crime against women.
Yesterday in the Parliament, Jaya Bachchan was heard lashing out at the government for failing to ensure women safety but have strict laws in place for the protection of cow. "The government needs to take aggressive steps for the protection of women. You can protect cows, but atrocities against women continue," said Jayaji.
Since Maatr deals with such a sensitive subject, we asked Raveena about her views on Mrs. Bachchan's comment during an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla. Responding to which, she said, "I know her [Jaya Bachchan] quote and I strongly support and stand by her. I do believe that Govt has come and gone and changed but somewhere it has not made a difference as far as women security and safety is concerned."
She further added, "I strongly believe that if there can be a law passed, a life sentence for killing a cow then definitely a stronger and harsher law should be for the protection of women. They should prove to be a deterrent to these criminals and they should think not once but ten times before even thinking about doing anything like this. And yes, Jayaji in the Rajya Sabha said this and I am very proud of her that someone is raising that kind of voice."
Raveena herself has been a staunch supporter of girl child movements and has never minced her words for calling a spade, a spade.
The trailer of Maatr has already got around 10 million views and the movie is all set to hit the theatres on April 21, 2017.
