EXCLUSIVE: Anil Kapoor on working with Madhuri Dixit: Was like telepathy; universe wanted us to come together

Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit made the country go 'dhak dhak' with their chemistry onscreen in the movie Beta. The two united yet again after decades for the movie Total Dhamaal which releases this month. While we all wait with bated breath to see the two back on celluloid together, in an exclusive chat with Anil Kapoor, we asked him about what led to this reunion. To this, the handsome actor, who continues to defy age with each passing day, said that there couldn't have been a better film for them to return as a pair.
"This film I am very happy that we (Madhuri and I) did together because it is a mainstream commercial hardcore thing which truly wants to entertain and there is no confusion about it. So, when (director) Indra Kumar came to me with the script, I was thinking what should we do, an epic love story or something dramatic, then I thought 'no, this is the right film to do together' and Indu was very convinced about it. He was very clear that Madhuri should be a part of this film. I asked him if she would do it. Incidentally, when they went to Madhuri, she asked if I would do this film. So, it was like a telepathy."
"Somewhere I think universe wanted us to come together for this movie. There was no planning as such, it just happened," he laughed and added, "When we were on the sets, it did not seem that we are working after so many years. We just came and it looked like we have been working together all this time."
Total Dhamaal also starring Ajay Devgn, Esha Gupta among others is scheduled to release on February 22, 2019.
